For over 25 years, RCE Equipment Solutions has delivered high-quality, maintenance-of-way equipment designed to meet the toughest demands of railroad maintenance. What started as a small shop with just four employees has grown into a 90,000-square-foot manufacturing facility with a dedicated, full-time engineering team.
Our story began in the early 1990s as a rail products dealer for Deere & Co. By 1997, we took the reins of specialty manufacturing, developing equipment that was too niche for traditional assembly lines. After years of outsourcing, we brought manufacturing in-house to Rockford, IL, where we continue to design and build specialized machines that adapt conventional construction equipment — like excavators, wheel loaders, and motor graders — for rail-specific tasks.
At RCE, customization is key. Our patented hydraulic-powered retractable high rail system allows machines to seamlessly transition on and off the tracks in seconds, ensuring efficient rail maintenance while keeping operations flexible. Whether it’s tie-tamping, snow clearing, or right-of-way maintenance, our purpose-built attachments make the toughest jobs easier.

“A lot of rail maintenance equipment is dedicated to the tracks. They can’t get out of the way easily for passing trains,” RCE Owner Steve Benck says. “What we are doing is equipping machines so they can get on and off the track in seconds. So if you are out 20 miles clearing snow, you can pull off the track to let a train pass.”
